@Sojourner in the earth: Professional wrestling began in France around 1830. And the "first" claim is troublesome. I have added information to support a hool that I will propose:

And @Dahn: should have a look at ALT2 Bruxton (talk) 15:37, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sojourner in the earth: best practice is to remove the "No" you have placed after it is corrected. Otherwise promotors may wonder if your concerns have been addressed. This particular nomination was made on behalf of an IP who could not nominate it, so I have assisted. Bruxton (talk) 00:19, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've removed the icon. I haven't checked ALT2 myself, but the sources are online and I assume Dahn has done due diligence. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 05:29, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, the hook isn't implying pro wrestling didn't exist in France before the FFCP. The FFCP was the first "modern" pro wrestling promotion in France. These types of companies didn't come into existence until well into the 20th century. The world's oldest company, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, was founded in 1933. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 17:20, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute with IWSF/Jacky Richard/Flesh Gordon

[edit]

Can someone add a section on here explaining the bittery rivalry between the big two Old School French Wrestling promotions? I know promotions have competed with each other all over the world since time immemorial, but FFCP and IWSF care more about killing each other off than competing with the French equivalents of the New School promotions let alone WWE and other invading American promotions. I know each of them refuses to speak to any journalists who talk to the other one and they both accuse each other of being evil fraudsters, but I can't seen to find a neutral impartial account of the feud and what it is all about. There is a certain amount about the feud here but it doesn't make it clear what it's all about, it just has Marc Mercier complaining about the IWSF just as they are reportedly liable to say the same about them.Romomusicfan (talk) 07:45, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Have had a go at putting in a section, but needs expanding to explain just what the underlying issues are.Romomusicfan (talk) 12:26, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Have created a redirect to this page. Hopefully a wider article about France as a wrestling territory can be written.Romomusicfan (talk) 10:57, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Le Catch on TF1 - what years did it start and finish?

[edit]

Needs to be added to the Golden Years section. Also the circumstances of cancellation would be useful - who was the French Greg Dyke? Romomusicfan (talk) 13:12, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
